I started studying nutrition at a time that nobody knew exactly what the study meant.
My mother suffered from breastcancer and I wanted to know more about the relation between nutrition and cancer.
I graduated at the University of Wageningen (Ir. Msc) and completed a Post Graduate Course in Clinical Nutrition at the Roehampton University in London (PGDip).
I am a member of the Dutch Academy of Food Science (Nederlandse Academie van Voedingswetenschappen)
I used to play tennis, hike and ski in the mountains. After three knee operations I had to slow down. I am still hiking and swimming.
Sport has always played a major role in my life. When I was young, it was mostly soccer, aand as an adult Aikido. But, anyway, I always kept running on the side. Last year I ran the half marathon of Aruba and this year (2019) I'm going to do that again. My interest in biochemistry and the functioning of the body is obviously the passion, and why I studied pharmacy. I am always looking for new evidence based knowledge in that field of medication and nutritional supplements and the claims they have about healthy living and sports performance.
I studied pharmacy at Utrecht University and I am a pharmacist at a local pharmacy. In addition I am a sports nutritionist.
